ScotRail is helping people heading to the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Festival, which is being held from the 18th to 20th September at Ayr Racecourse.

With an expected 10,000 people set to attend via trains, ScotRail will be adding additional services between Ayr and Glasgow.

The extra services and carriages will be running before and after the races on Saturday.

It’s a short walk from Ayr Station to the racecourse and takes around an hour from Glasgow to Ayr.

Customers are advised to book in advance, which can be done by the ScotRail app, self-service ticket machines or ticket offices.

“We’re excited to support the Ayr Gold Cup Festival and help make it a fantastic experience for racegoers. It’s a highlight of the Scottish racing calendar, and we know how much it means to fans across the country.

“To make travel as smooth and comfortable as possible, we’ll be running extra services before and after Saturday’s big race and adding more carriages to the busiest trains between Ayr and Glasgow.”

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director
