The Spotlight Rail Awards 2025 have Greater Anglia (GA) as their Operator of the Year.
This is the third time in the last seven months that Greater Anglia has received a national ‘operator of the year’ award.
There are now several different sets of awards given each year, with GA winning the gong for Passenger Operator of the Year award at the National Rail Awards and the Train Operator of the Year award at the Rail Business Awards.

Greater Anglia, which will return to public ownership later this year, attributes its success in these awards in large part to its punctuality.
Using the public performance measure (PPM – which measures arrival at destination within 5 minutes), GA has an annual performance at 94.2%. Its most punctual routes have achieved annual performance ratings of between 95.0% and 98.3%.
The operator boasts that it “has transformed travel across its network” It has replaced its fleet of trains and introduced new, direct services, including between Norwich and Stansted Airport.
The annual awards event took place on the evening of Thursday 20 March.
Greater Anglia (GA) was also a finalist in, but failed to win, the Net Zero Pioneer award and the Corporate Social Responsibility award.
In the last year, Greater Anglia has also won three Golden Whistle awards and a Golden Spanner award for its four-car bi-mode trains.

“I’d like to pay tribute to the efforts of colleagues right across Greater Anglia, who are passionate about doing their best for the customers and communities we serve.
“With excellent performance, a commitment to great customer service, high quality new trains, and effective partnerships with other rail industry organisations and wider stakeholders, we’re fully focused on maintaining our high standards.
“We will continue to work to keep up our high standards and keep on improving – always focused on delivering the best train service we can for customers, communities, and wider stakeholders across our region.”
