A new large-format integrated information board that provides comprehensive travel information has been installed near the main entrance to Ipswich station in Suffolk.
The new screen is much larger than the previous one, with a 4.8 metre-wide display that uses high-resolution LED technology, which provides clear information and is easy to read from across the station concourse.

The screen has been designed to make it easier for passengers to plan their journeys and stay up to date with travel information while at the station. Information displayed on the screen brings together in one place real-time train departures, onward bus connection information, and clear updates when train services are subject to disruption.
An innovative feature is the new UK railway clock, which is a modern interpretation of the classic railway timepiece, and is the first Greater Anglia station where it has been installed.
The screen, funded by and with the support of Suffolk County Council, was installed through a partnership between Greater Anglia and the Blackbox Company of Camberley in Surrey, and is similar to one installed at Norwich station in June 2025.
Blackbox Company (UK) introduced the first colour display on the Greater Anglia network in 2017, since when it has focused on making passenger information clearer, more integrated, and more responsive in real-time. With the continued development of its Azzido Cloud platform and advances in LED technology, the Ipswich screen marks another step forward in providing travel information.
Councillor Chris Chambers, Suffolk County Council Cabinet member for Transport Strategy added that travellers no longer need to juggle multiple apps, and timetables, making public transport a much more integrated and coherent system.
Greater Anglia and the Ipswich to Cambridge Community Rail Partnership are running a competition for the public to suggest a suitable name for the railway line from Ipswich to Cambridge. It is also reminding customers that there may be some disruption to travel over Easter because of engineering works.
“We are pleased to introduce this new screen at Ipswich, which will make it easier for customers to access clear, real-time travel information in one place. It’s another step forward in improving the overall experience at our stations, particularly during busy periods or when services are disrupted.”
Andrew Goodrum, Greater Anglia’s Infrastructure & Major Projects Director

Will the trains actually run any better (always on time) because of a new big screen. And will Great Anglia now stop substituting trains without 1st class accommodation on the Liverpool Street / Norwich service ?
