We are at The East Lancashire Railway for a final time this year – to marvel at their fantastic class 40 (40106). 50015 was added to make a top and tail formation because of the train electrical items wasn’t yet fitted with the 40, so the 50 had to be there. When they did the last service, it was double headed as they could make the locos get into the shed easier. Anyway, that’s enough of a description for you, let’s get into the video!

To begin with, we see 40106 departing Irwell with a great glint from the sun (which makes a change for a cold winter’s day). Nice to get lots of thrash from the locomotive there. We then head to Ramsbottom to see 50015 which was nice, given that the sun was behind us shining on the locomotive. We then rush towards the Bury Ski Jump where we witness 46441 scaling down (But I left that out as this is a diesel running day video – will be uploaded if you want me to). We see 50015 thrash up the ski jump with a nice acknowledgement from the driver. We saw it at Heywood and Ewood Bridge but the films weren’t good – hence why I left them out. We see 50015 erupt away from Rawtenstall with white smoke and clag all over the place – what a legend driver. We then race him to Summerseat and beat him there. We also see the steam but that can be uploaded later on. Finally, we head to Burrs C.P to make the best of the remaining light, hence why I headed to the caravan park side of the line this time. Great fumes and sound coming out of the 40 there. Then the final shot is thanks to Sam L which was recorded on a GoPro of the double header – as I had to be elsewhere.
