As part of Scottish Tourism Month, Lumo is promoting Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow, as one of the destinations to visit.

Partnering with Visit Glasgow, Lumo is advertising the best places to visit, explore, dine, and stay across the city to its passengers.

BBC Radio 1 Presenter Emil Franchi has joined Lumo in promoting Glasgow by posting on social media about his experiences and creating a short video about his time exploring the city.

The video starts with Emil arriving at Glasgow Queen Street station, before heading for the charity run organisation at Pinkston Watersports, where he takes part in whitewater tubing on Scotland’s only artificial whitewater course.

Following a high adrenaline activity, he moves on to visit ‘The Last Bookstore’, hidden away on Hope Street, complete with a large bar and a book tunnel. The restaurant is effectively a bar in a library, offering books to read, cocktails to drink and Mediterranean light bites.

Emil ends his day exploring the 22 galleries of The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. Emil not only explores local and national artworks but also international art and sculptures, as well as some Egyptian artefacts, which are also on display.

There is also a glimpse inside the 5-star Dakota Hotel, with luxury rooms, service and fine dining situated in the heart of the city.

Lumo services from London and the North of England serve Edinburgh, Falkirk and Glasgow, with affordable fares and daily services. Lumo offer a greener alternative to travel, which is 25 times greener than flying, with its 100% all electric train fleet.

“We added Glasgow to our popular route on the East Coast during December last year and we’re thrilled with the response from those travelling to and from this vibrant city. Scottish Tourism Month is the perfect opportunity to encourage even more people to visit Glasgow and experience the diverse mix of food, drink, activities and places to stay it has to offer. We’ve also been excited to celebrate the Glasgow International Comedy Festival taking place during March.

I’d like to thank Visit Glasgow for supporting us with creating this fun and original content which is helping to showcase a small part of what Glasgow has to offer.”

Richard Salkeld, Director of Communications and Partnerships at Lumo

“Lumo, like myself are proudly from the North East so being able to use their quick service from London to get home or visit two cities I love in Edinburgh or Glasgow is always a joy.

The best part about visiting Scotland is that each time I leave with a love of a new place I’ve visited. Hopefully this content shows how much you can do in just a short trip!”
