A new version of a seven-plank open wagon in N Gauge has been announced by the Kernow Model Rail Centre based in Camborne, Cornwall.
The new model is being produced by Peco, exclusively for the Kernow Model Rail Centre, and depicts a 1910 RCH version of a 10-ton seven-plank open wagon in the livery of T.H. Carter of Haslemere in Surrey.
Based on Peco’s RCH 1907 specification seven-plank open wagon with a 9-foot wheelbase, it is fitted with detachable couplings and metal-tyred wheels for free running.
T.H. Carter was a coal and coke merchant in Haslemere during the first Decade of the 20th century; for how long the business continued after the mid-1920s is not known.
The model is numbered 15, in line with the tradition and Carter’s policy of giving privately owned wagons high numbers to imply a fleet. In 1907, the London & South Western Railway registered the wagon as registration No.1478.
The model is available as NRC035 Peco 7 Plank Open Wagon – T H Carter, Haslemere – number 15 L&SWR, is priced at £21.99, and is available for purchase online and at Kernow Model Rail Centre branches in Guildford, Surrey and Camborne.
Last week, it announced a TT:120 gauge version of the wagon in the livery of the Helston Gas Company, and last March it announced a version, also in TT:120 gauge, in the livery of Franks and Co. of Guildford.
“I am pleased that we can announce our second Exclusive N Gauge local private owner wagon T.H. Carter of Haslemere. This adds another N Gauge model to our range of exclusive local-based wagons that we have already produced in 0, 00 and TT:120 gauges.”
