The Severn Valley Railway is celebrating after its King and Castle pub claimed Gold Pub of the Year from the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Wyre Forest branch.
The accolade followed a rigorous process in which shortlisted venues were anonymously assessed by Campaign for Real Ale’s secret shoppers.
Judges considered drink quality, staff expertise, décor, atmosphere, customer welcome, and community spirit.
Open between noon and 4 pm Tuesday to Sunday and located at Kidderminster station, the pub serves a broad range of real ales, ciders, wines, and spirits, alongside hot food.
“Our team has worked incredibly hard to establish the King and Castle as a true community hub, under the leadership of joint managers Chris Dainty and Kat Forty.
“Chris has been instrumental in maintaining exceptional standards across our beer selection, while Kat has transformed the venue’s social offering with a vibrant programme of live music, quizzes and al fresco events on our beautiful station concourse. This award is a fantastic recognition of the whole team’s dedication.”
Nicky Freeman, SVR’s visitor experience manager.
