Following operating at other railways such as the West Somerset Railway and North Norfolk Railway (where it has been located since 2018), The Midland Railway – Butterley is welcoming home 7F No. 13809 (53809).
The locomotive will be on display in the Matthew Kirtley Building at Swanwick Junction until the overhaul progress can be made.
13809 Preservation Society has plans to give the locomotive a full overhaul, allowing its long-awaited return to steam at the railway.
The freight locomotive is well-loved and marks a huge addition to the railway’s collection.
The railway will be releasing updates on the locomotive and any future plans as they progress.
