This morning (17 March), customers at London Waterloo were surprised by a newly named Arterio train.

South Western Railway unveiled the ‘LEGOLAND Locomotive’, which was named to celebrate the resort’s 30th anniversary and popular reason for travelling by train.

The train features a LEGO-inspired design and was revealed alongside a LEGO character.

It then set off to Windsor & Eton Riverside, which is well used for those visiting the resort.

“With more than 500 services operated by our Arterio fleet every day, customers across our network are feeling the benefits of these game-changing new trains – whether they’re travelling into London or heading over to Windsor for a visit to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort.

“Naming one our trains the LEGOLAND Locomotive celebrates the idea that train travel is more than simply getting A to B. The railway connects people with the places they love – and the journey is all part of the adventure.

“The LEGOLAND Locomotive and our partnership with Merlin attractions is a fantastic way to mark a major milestone for one of the network’s most popular attractions and highlight the vital role rail plays in connecting communities with great destinations across our region.”

James Wale, Fleet Director at South Western Railway

  1. Are South Western Railway to retain the Class 458/4 4-Car units and the 458/5 5-Car to be moved for storage. It would be optional to see both the Class 458/4 and /5 trains to be used on other routes including London Waterloo-Basingstoke stopper, Waterloo-Weybridge, Windsor & Eton Riverside, Reading, Ascot, Aldershot and Alton routes and some to operate on the Southampton Central-Portsmouth & Southsea/Portsmouth Harbour shuttle service.
