The Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway near Sittingbourne in Kent has converted its semaphore signals from oil lamps to battery power.

The railway is 2-foot gauge and, although just ¾-mile long, is a fully operational line with two stations, an engine shed, and workshops.

As well as converting the signals to run on battery power, the signal semaphore boxes have been overhauled, new grease nipples fitted, and repainted.

The coloured spectacle glass in the semaphores has also been replaced.

The Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway has a collection of steam locomotives and a vintage fire engine from the USA, and is also the base where volunteers from the Rail Trolley Trust restore its collection of Wickham Trolleys.
