To match Rapido Trains range of Great Western Railway (GWR) 45XX Class of ‘Small Prairie’ locomotives announced today, Friday, 27th February, the company has announced a range of OO Gauge contemporary coaching stock.
These are 48-foot ‘Evolution’ bogie coaches of Batch 3, with a livery of GWR lined crimson lake. The range includes Non-corridor Brake Third, Third, First, Composite and Full Brake body versions. A triple pack will also be available, comprising one Non-Corridor Brake Third, one Third, and one Composite coach.

Each version has working internal lights that can be controlled by Rapido Trains’ magnetic ‘magic wand, and the lights can be adjusted to suit modellers’ preferences.
The GWR Lined Crimson Lake is Rapido’s third version of OO Gauge ‘Evolution’ bogie coaches, and represents coaching stock, as running between 1912 and 1922, making them ideal for models depicting the late pre-Group era of the time of World War I.
Each model, except for the Full Brake, has a clerestory roof; the Full Brake has an elliptical roof. All have a removable roof to allow the easy fitting of model figures, and incorporate luggage racks, picture frames on compartment dividers, and gas light fittings.

More details about this range of coaches can be found on the Evolution Coaches webpage at https://rapidotrains.co.uk/evolution-coaches/.
The new models are available for pre-order at £199.95 for the triple coach pack and £69.95 for single coaches. Coaches in the triple pack feature different running numbers from those of the coaches sold singly.
Twelve months ago, Rapido Trains announced a range of County Class locomotives, which, although not contemporary with this range of coaches, are ideal for modellers with a layout based in the West Country. It has also expanded its range to include a selection of OO9 Gauge models.
