Last Friday, the ground beneath the track in Ockley shifted, prompting the line to be closed immediately.
The line was closed from Dorking to Horsham, with a shuttle service operating on the open sections until further inspections could be carried out.
Engineers have devised a plan to repair the landslip, which will result in a line closure between Dorking and Horsham.
Buses will replace trains from today (26th January) until the 30th January at the earliest.
The work near Ockley will stabilise the line, prevent further deterioration, and allow services to resume.
Across this week, passengers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time by checking their journeys online.
“We’re really sorry for the disruption this week and the short notice of this closure. We know closing the line between Dorking and Horsham is going to be frustrating for passengers, and it’s certainly not a decision we’ve taken lightly.
“Safety for passengers and railway staff has to come first, and we need to act quickly to make sure that the condition of the embankment does not deteriorate further.”
“Thank you for your patience while we carry out these essential repairs – we’re do everything we can to get the railway back open as soon as possible.”
Speaking on behalf of Network Rail, Lucy McAuliffe, Route Director
