Bachmann has today unveiled the first-ever ready-to-run model of the BR Class 13 diesel shunters.
In real life, Class 13s were created in 1965 when Darlington Works modified three pairs of Class 08s to meet the requirements of the new Tinsley Marshalling Yard.
The Bachmann Class 13s have two motorised units, Master and Slave, and both are fitted with motors and an all-wheel electric pick-up.
The pick-ups are complemented by the Bach-Up Stay Alive System, one in the master and one in the slave, which provides DCC users with uninterrupted power to stop light flicker, sound cut out and stalling.
Bachmann says that the new models, whilst sharing the same mechanical base as the Class 08s, are anything but identical thanks to a significant investment in new tooling to capture the unique elements of a Class 13.
The first release of the Class 13 showcase D4502 in BR Green with Wasp Stripes and 13003 in BR Blue.
The two models will be available in Standard, Sound Fitted and Sound Fitted Deluxe, the latter two coming fitted with Zimo DCC decoders, whilst the Deluxe version also comes with Bachmann’s Auto Release Couplings.
The RRP for the standard version is set at £399.95, whilst the Sound Fitted versions cost £539.95 and £569.95 for the Deluxe edition.
The models can be pre-ordered from Bachmann retailers now.
