A new reflective garden has been created at Brookwood Cemetery by South Western Railway.
They have restored an unused area between the station and the cemetery.
The peaceful space will be a place to remember those who are no longer with us and reflect on their lives before entering the cemetery.
They’ve created planters constructed of old railway sleepers, and a section of track has been moved into the area from Brookwood station.

The area also serves as a memorial for the London Necropolis Railway, which transported people to their final resting place from Waterloo due to other graveyards being at capacity.
“I’m very proud that we have unveiled the very first reflective garden on the SWR network as one of our special Railway 200 legacy projects.
“It has been created through a fantastic collaboration between SWR contractors, Network Rail and Brookwood Cemetery who have transformed this once barren space into a place of reflection and remembrance for visitors to the cemetery”
Paula Aldridge, SWR’s Community Rail Manager and driving force behind the project
