On the 6th November, 71000 ‘Duke of Gloucester’ is returning for its first public steam tour since its recent general overhaul.

The Royal Scot will depart from London Euston, heading towards Crewe. This section of the tour will be hauled by D213 ‘Andania’.

From Crewe, 71000 will take passengers on an incredible journey to Carlisle, where passengers can then spend two hours exploring the city.

The trip will be steam-hauled back to Crewe, where it will become diesel-hauled again as it heads back to London Euston.

Tickets are available for standard class and first class, with tickets able to be booked online.

  1. West coast seem to have become too big for there boots.having a reliable loco tornado on there books then falling out with owners.then relying on unreliable locos .hopefully railway touring company use another firm next year.

  2. This will be a welcome new steam loco coming to Carlisle. At present locos from the “Carnforth Pool”, which normally exclusively provides motive power for Carlisle bound charter trains, amount to just Tangmere because West Coast Railways don’t seem to have any other working steam locos other than the ones in Ft William for the Jacobite.
They would have also had Tornado but apparently fell out with its owners and ordered them to take this loco away from the Carnforth depot.
