Network Rail is reminding passengers that over the next three weekends, journeys will be affected.

Work is being carried out at numerous sites, with some of the work resulting in a line closure.

No trains will run in either direction from Doncaster and Leeds to York, Northallerton and Darlington on the 25th and 26th October.

Services to and from York will be limited on the 1st and 2nd November.

No services on the 8th and 9th November in both directions from Doncaster and Leeds to York.

From the 25th October to the 2nd November buses will be replacing trains between Knaresborough and York.

Work will include replacing sleepers, and track, as well as renewing drainage and overhead lines.

Further information on the work that is being carried out can be found on Network Rail’s website.

Passengers should check before they travel online.

“We’re investing in vital upgrades across the area to deliver a more reliable and resilient railway for passengers. While we understand that changes to services can be disruptive, this work is vital to keep the network running safely and smoothly for years to come.

“We’re working closely with train operators to keep people moving and thank everyone for their patience while we carry out these improvements.”

Sam MacDougall, Network Rail operations director
