The new railway facility in Doncaster is set to open in October.

Network Rail and the City of Doncaster Council are asking for the public’s help in naming the facility.

The building, which was previously the site of the National College for High Speed Rail, was taken over by Network Rail in 2024 and has since been transformed.

They currently have 4 shortlisted names:

  • Duddington & Bray House
  • Flying Scotsman House
  • The Corridor
  • The Gresley Institute

Each of the names pays tribute to an aspect of Doncaster, from honouring Sir Nigel Gresley and his works to the East Coast Main Line corridor.

Voting closes on the 25th September, with the official name to be revealed in October.

You can vote for your name online.

“This facility will allow us to provide top class training to current and future colleagues across the railway industry and builds on Doncaster’s proud railway heritage.

“We want the public to help us choose a name that celebrates the city’s remarkable railway legacy. It’s fitting that during Railway 200, the people of Doncaster and railway enthusiasts everywhere can play a part in continuing the city’s railway story.”

Laura Smith, Network Rail’s programme manager for the new training centre
