Over 8,000 tickets sold in first year of East Midlands Railway’s Secret Fares

Since East Midlands Railway introduced its Secret Fares 12 months ago, the offer has been used more than 8,000 times.

Hundreds of travellers have used the new fares, which provide a saving of up to 50 per cent on the average price of an advance single ticket. Aimed at passengers with flexible travel schedules, the secret fare costs as little as £14 to travel from Nottingham or Derby to London.

The tickets were launched in partnership with Seatfrog a year ago, and have been a hit with both customers travelling on the spur of the moment or those whose journey time can be flexible. As well as Nottingham or Derby to London from £14, Secret Fare routes include:

  • Sheffield to London St Pancras from £17.
  • Nottingham to London St Pancras from £15.
  • Derby to London St Pancras from £14.
  • Liverpool to Sheffield from £6.
  • Liverpool to Nottingham from £10.
  • Nottingham to Norwich from £16.

To take advantage of a Secret Fare:

  • Visit the Seatfrog app or the Secret Fare webpage at https://secretfare.seatfrog.com.
  • Enter the journey and date of travel.
  • Choose a time window, either morning, afternoon, or evening.

A confirmed journey time will be emailed to the traveller 24 hours before departure.

East Midlands Railway is also offering up to 50% off Advance Fares for travel until September 7th if they are booked by August 10th.
