Rail freight operator DB Cargo UK, which is based in Doncaster, is for the first time taking part in the South Yorkshire city’s LGBT+ Pride event this year.
The event, which celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other non-‘straight’ sexual and gender identities, is to take place this Saturday (9 August) in Doncaster’s Town Fields.
DB Cargo UK has decided to take part in the event as part of its range of activities on the theme of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). The company established an EDI Council last year.
DB staff will represent the company in the Pride Parade of Unity. The parade will make its way through Doncaster City Centre to Town Fields.
Various organisations will be running stalls in the Fields, including DB Cargo UK. There will be live acts and entertainment, a Pride dog show, and much more!
The company’s Human Resources Director, Laura Clarke, emphasised that ‘EDI is BAU’, meaning that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are Business As Usual.
During Pride month in June, DB Cargo UK’s EDI Council gained approval to decorate a locomotive in a special Pride livery. It has selected locomotive no. 66068, and the work on this is almost complete. The company will officially name the locomotive and reveal its nameplate during its Diversity Week in November.
The company has adopted liveries for various events and causes in the past, including ‘Steel on Steel’ in 2022 and the ‘Yorkshire Rose’ in 2024.
“We are thrilled to have DB Cargo joining the Doncaster Pride lineup! The generosity of our sponsors is what helps make Doncaster Pride happen, and having representation in that lineup from businesses with a strong link to Doncaster and its’ people means so much to us.
“Doncaster Pride strives to make Doncaster a better and more inclusive place for us all and DB Cargo’s help to do this is vital. We are really looking forward to this new collaboration and can’t wait to see DB Cargo’s colleagues on the day and give a big thanks in person to the team!”

That might actually be the best Class 66 pride livery I’ve seen so far!
