From Saturday 2nd August to Friday 22nd August, no East Midlands Railway services will stop at any station northwest of Sheffield.
The closure is a result of a major project to replace a bridge at Greek Street in Stockport.
Work to replace the bridge is already underway; however, the closure will allow for the full demolition of the old bridge and the installation of the new structure.
The combined requirement to demolish the old bridge and the requirement for cranes to be on site, services that would run between Norwich and Liverpool Lime Street, will terminate at Sheffield.
Those travelling between Sheffield and Manchester or Liverpool will be able to use their tickets on other services run by different train operators at no extra cost; however, trains will not call at Stockport.

Services between Sheffield and Stockport will require passengers to head to Manchester Piccadilly, where a rail replacement bus will take them to Stockport.
Replacement buses will operate between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly as a supplement to other operators’ services.
Customers should check before they travel and allow extra time on the East Midlands Railway website.
“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while this important work takes place. The replacement of the bridge at Greek Street is essential to securing the long-term safety and reliability of services on the West Coast Main Line.
“We’re working closely with our industry partners to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure customers can continue their journeys with as little inconvenience as possible. Please check our website before you travel to see how your journey may be affected.”
Philippa Cresswell, Customer Experience Director at East Midlands Railway
