Alan Thomson Simulation and Dovetail Games have released a new add-on to Train Sim World 5 (TSW5).

Named the Manchester Airport Commuter, players can drive simulated trains from Manchester Piccadilly to Alderley Edge and Manchester Airport via Stockport and the Styal Line.

Both lines offer busy services, with the focal point being Manchester Piccadilly station. This station, which was first modelled for the Glossop line route add-on, has been modelled in full, featuring everything from the platforms and a full concourse to the iconic glass roof.

The station also includes a taxi rank and Metrolink areas, which can be explored outside the station, along with the ability for players to route hop.

All the other stations along the routes feature Manchester Airport station hosting features to the highest detail, including the Airport Skywalk down to the layout of the platforms and the signage.

The runway has also been modelled along with Airbus planes, which take off and land from the runway, offering some spectacular photo mode shots in both day and night time settings.

The trains consist of the Northern class 323 EMUs, which are already familiar to TSW players from the Training Centre. These trains will feature an additional Conductor mode as part of the Manchester Airport Commuter package, while a class 66 diesel on FKA wagons will also feature.

Players will have the choice to pick from two separate timetables, featuring busy weekday services featuring freight movements, to the more relaxed Sunday services.

While all four depots, Ardwick, Longsight, Manchester International and Stockport sidings, also feature to enable players to take part in shunting, coupling and uncoupling and train washing procedures.

Players who already have other trains or route add-ons will be able to operate other timetabled services and rolling stock along the Stockport and Styal routes.

These include class 350 on services heading to and from the West Coast Main Line, Class 390 Pendolinos, East Midlands class 158 trains heading to and from the Midland Main line, Class 87 locomotives from the Preston – Carlisle add-on, railhead treatment trains, and class 150 & 153 DMUs will also be compatible from the Cardiff City Network add-on as well as the Scotrail class 158 DMUs.
