West Midlands Railway has declared the railway station in the Birmingham suburb of Tyseley in the West Midlands the winner of its annual ‘Best in Bloom’ award.

The award, given to the station with the best floral displays on the West Midlands Railway network, was presented to some volunteers who look after the station on Wednesday, 21st May.

Volunteers who help to keep the station looking pristine are drawn from the Friends of Vintage Trains, Vintage Trains, and the Friends of the Shakespeare Line.

Among their efforts are the beautiful floral displays that were recognised by this award, and which can be admired by travellers passing through the station.

All stations on the Shakespeare Line, between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon, have a team of volunteers who work effortlessly to keep the stations looking welcoming, and provide a colourful display for travellers who use the line.

Further information about becoming a volunteer or to find out about the Friends of The Shakespeare Line is on their website at https://www.friendsl.org.uk/, and for The Friends of Vintage Trains at https://friendsofvt.org.uk/. Vintage Trains is also looking for volunteers, and details of opportunities are at https://vintagetrains.co.uk/.

Current projects at Vintage Trains‘ Tyseley Locomotive Works include The LMS Patriot Project, which is constructing replica London Midland and Scottish Railway Patriot Class No. 5551 The Unknown Warrior.
