Merseyrail has entered a partnership with the ethical period care brand TOTM to provide all its employees with free sustainable sanitary products.

The company’s partnership will allow it to take a major step towards becoming a period-positive workplace through promoting inclusivity and wellbeing.

With this initiative, Merseyrail is helping to break down the stigma surrounding menstruation and hopes that it will enable open conversations, reassure colleagues that they are supported, and help them feel comfortable managing their periods when working.

TOTM is a carbon-neutral company with a reputation for sourcing organic cotton products responsibly. It welcomes Merseyrail’s initiative in its holistic and thoughtful approach to menstrual dignity in the workplace.

Commenting on Merseyrail’s partnership with TOTM, Suzanne Grant, Merseyrail’s Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Managing Director, reflected that the operator is proud to partner with TOTM to create a more inclusive, supportive environment for our colleagues.

No one should feel uncomfortable or unprepared when managing their period at work. By providing free and sustainable period care products, we’re making a meaningful change that supports wellbeing, breaks taboos, and promotes dignity across our organisation.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Merseyrail to champion period comfort, wellbeing, and dignity by making organic and planet-friendly period care accessible to colleagues. From our very first discussion, we were inspired by Merseyrail s passion for driving change, taking a thoughtful, holistic approach to period care by ensuring accessibility across various sites and fostering a supportive cultural shift..”

“Ruby Parmar, Chair & Non-Executive Director of TOTM
