Train operators are warning passengers of major disruption this morning as emergency services attend to an incident.
To allow the emergency services to carry out their work, the line between Stoke-on-Trent and Macclesfield / Crewe has been closed.
Trains may be cancelled, diverted or delayed by up to 90 minutes.
Ticket acceptance is in place for Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway and Northern passengers.
Meanwhile, London Northwestern Railway says that rail replacement buses are in service.
