A team of 10 volunteers, 5 from Colas Rail UK and 5 from Network Rail, worked together during the day which was held in December 2021.

The volunteer day saw a clean up of the area in order to bring it back into action as a prime stabling point for On Track Plant and serviceable materials.

During the volunteer day, the following tasks were carried out:

• • Removal of portacabin stillage & steps
  • Scrap removal (around 20 tonnes of scrap rail along with 55 serviceable G44 sleepers)
  • De-vegetation of site
  • Resighting of P-way Cabin/Stores
  • Amassing/Organising of P-way materials
  • Resighting of P-way Rail/long materials
  • The installation of level grade throughout
  • The installation of Armco Barrier and signage (denotes parking/materials store)

In order to keep the site tidy in the future, On Track Plant suppliers and Network Rail will put plans in place to carry out general maintenance along with routine inspections.
