Model Railways 6 months agoDifficult question to answer, depends on lot of thought regarding amount of space you have for layout, how deep your pockets are and what you want on your layout and your ability putting all into action and time.
Put down + and – on paper and visit good local model Railway shop who can give you honest answers regarding options available.

I was mugged by my older brother of my Duchess of Athol at twelve years of age! (plus track) For his son? My new nephew! Nice size engine! I wouldn’t want a tichy tiny layout if I went into that! Interesting though! I now make models of matchstick locomotives! When not on Locostop that is!

I am going to be controversial, don’t go for a classic oval as unless you have loads of space you will find it hard to stop it from looking like a train set and being toy like. Then maybe an 8000 Riddles 4Mt? 80105 or the 80064 I would fire at 72A. 1962/ 63 until branch lines went diesel! 80064 followed me to Bristol Barrow rd shed! Late 1965 I take it (and many more) to…

Model Railways 8 months agoI don’t have a layout, but enjoy modelling. Here’s my latest conversion of a run down eBay purchase into RTC test Car 2
I’ve done quite a few conversions into RTC rolling stock, my next project is a small layout depicting Mickleover Station and yard (Derby) when used by the Research dept.

Two of the six layouts which will be making their public debuts in December at the Manchester Model Railway Society’s Centenary Exhibition. Port du Crozon, 1/50 scale metre gauge set in Brittany in the 1950s, and Littledene, OO, set in 1930s East Sussex. Both of their owners have won awards at previous MMRS exhibitions.
