To make the rail network in London more accessible, five more Tube stations are to be assessed for step-free access feasibility.
Transport for London will be assessing opportunities and constraints of making Barkingside, Brent Cross, Preston Road, Queensbury, and Totteridge & Whetstone Underground stations step-free.
This is an additional 5 stations on top of the 40 stations where feasibility is already underway.
Currently, there are 94 tube stations with step-free access, with Colindale being the most recent addition in December last year, and Northolt to be the next.
‘London is for everyone, and the Mayor and I are committed to making our transport network as accessible as possible, so that more people can enjoy all our great city has to offer. We’re pleased to see five more stations proceed to feasibility studies in the next stage of TfL’s step-free access programme, which is vital progress in improving accessibility across the network as we continue building a fairer, better London for everyone.’
Seb Dance, Deputy Mayor of London for Transport
