The success of last August’s The Greatest Gathering is still being felt, with the event, held at Alstom’s Litchurch Lane Works in Derby, being honoured with an award in this year’s ‘The Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards’.
The awards, held at Derby County’s stadium at Pride Park Stadium in Derby on Wednesday, 18th March, recognise excellence and outstanding achievement across the area’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Tourism and hospitality contribute £3.58 billion to the local economy. Alstom’s The Greatest Gathering won a Bronze award for Festival or Event of the Year at the Pride Park event, which celebrated the passionate, hardworking, and distinctive businesses that are continually investing and improving the region’s world-class tourist offerings.
The evening was a glittering joint awards ceremony with the Nottinghamshire Tourism Awards, and was held in partnership with VisitEngland.
Gold winners in each category will now have the chance to go on to represent the region at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence to be held in June 2026.
Alstom’s The Greatest Gathering, which raised £100,000 for charity, vied for the Festival or Event of the Year award with a Celebration of Jane Austen at Chatsworth, which won gold, and the Buxton Georgian Festival, which was awarded silver.
Seventeen other categories were recognised at the event, including Dog-Friendly Tourism Business of the Year, Experience of the Year, Family-Friendly Tourism Business of the Year, and Visitor Attraction of the Year.
Last November, Alstom was recognised with awards at the RailStaff Awards 2025 and the Railway Benefit Fund’s 2025 Heart of Gold Awards.
