The Lappa Valley Railway named Cornwall Air Ambulance their nominated charity of the year and held a special event for them.

They held a special charity day on the 14th March, which saw over 1,000 people visit the railway.

The admission fee was swapped out for donations directly to the charity, with volunteers from the charity taking over the ticket office for the day.

Visitors not only enjoyed a day full of train rides but got the chance to meet the team from the charity and learn more about the work they do.

The day was filled with community spirit, with everyone who visited raising £6,400 for the charity.

The railway will continue to raise money and awareness throughout the year for the charity, so it won’t be the last time the charity visits the railway.

“It was fantastic to see so many people come together to support Cornwall Air Ambulance. The atmosphere throughout the day was brilliant — families enjoying everything Lappa Valley has to offer while knowing they were helping a truly vital service.

“We’ve had some wonderful feedback from visitors, and it was clear that everyone wanted to do their bit for such an important charity.”

Ben Harding, Operations Director at Lappa Valley
