Stevenage F.C. and its Academy players have teamed up with Thameslink and Great Northern to officially adopt Stevenage railway station, signalling the start of an exciting community partnership.
The initiative was launched on Saturday, 28 February, with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque on Platform 5 by Kevin Bonavia, ahead of Boro’s 2-1 win over Stockport County F.C. in a fixture sponsored by the rail operator.

Members from the club’s Under-12 side handed out rail safety posters and artwork they had designed to passengers and travelling supporters. Plans are also underway for the players to brighten the station with flower displays in the club’s colours.
To mark the partnership, Under-13 player Riley Phillips recorded a special announcement broadcast across the station, while Matt Streeton, the recognisable ‘Voice’ of Thameslink and Great Northern, returned the gesture by lending his tones to the crowd at Lamex Stadium.
“Thank you to everyone at Thameslink and Great Northern for formally marking our partnership and adoption of Stevenage railway station.
“Over 12 years, this relationship has provided safe, reliable transport for our young players, easing financial pressures and improving access to training and education.
“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to creating even more opportunities for the next generation.”
Jorden Gibson, Academy Director
“The club is grounded in the community of Stevenage. I hope each and everyone of you is really, really proud of what you do. Congratulations on this partnership and I wish everyone involved all the very best.”
MP Kevin Bonavia.
