Model Railways @ The Rising Fishery have partnered up with Bachmann to create a limited edition OO gauge model of LMS Jubilee 4-6-0 No. 45690 ‘Leander’ in its current ‘As Preserved’ state.
With only 350 models of 45690 to be made, these OO gauge models will be made alongside Bachmann’s own range of Jubilees later this year before going on sale in 2027.
Featuring the latest tooling and features, ‘Leander’ will be available in BR lined black with early crest. The models will be available in DCC-ready and DCC sound.

To ensure the 45690 is true to the original in 1:76 scale, detailed research has been undertaken with Leander’s owner and support crew. The model will feature two etched, different colour name plates, a white metal regulator, and the reverser will be colour matched to the same shade as the one on the locomotive. The cab fittings will match those on the locomotive with a movable cab roof ventilator, while the firebox will have an authentic firebox glow.
Away from the cab, the model will feature detailed components such has brass safety valves, whistle, metal turned handrails, lubricators, sand boxes and sand pipes, with highly detailed smoke box, boiler barrel, firebox, cab and a metal diecast running plate each supporting detailed fittings such as rivets, washout plugs, crown hole doors etc, where necessary to replicate the full size ‘Leander’. The motion on the model will be metal, and the front bogie will be sprung-loaded.

The tender will feature a fall plate which can move while the locomotive is running. The adjustable drawbar between loco and tender will hold wires to allow for tender wheel pick up and for the Plux22 DCC decoder with speaker.
The tender body will also be finally detailed to replicate the original, with rivets, lamp irons and handrails. There will be coal in the tender, while underneath, a replicated water scoop will be installed. Both loco and tender will feature spung buffers.
Both DCC Ready and DCC sound models are available to pre-order online at modelrailwayshop.uk with prices beginning from £199,99.
With ‘Leander’ a regular performer on the mainline and familiar to so many generations of enthusiasts, this model will no doubt be perfect for those wishing to recreate an authentic 00 modern railway scene with a passing steam charter.
