OO gauge models of Great Western Railway (GWR) Churchward top-light corridor coaches are being considered for manufacture by model railway manufacturer Dapol.

If enough expressions of interest are received to show there is sufficient demand, Dapol will look to move forward with the project. However, if it is decided to produce the models, to ensure minimal excess stock, the quantities will be in line with the level of interest received.

Seven liveries are proposed – six Great Western with the GWR coat of arms and one British Railways with the lion and wheel roundel:

  • GWR Lined Crimson (1914).
  • GWR Lined Chocolate & Cream (1925).
  • GWR Chocolate and Cream Twin Cities (1930).
  • GWR Chocolate & Cream Roundel (1935).
  • GWR All Brown Twin Cities (1940).
  • GWR Chocolate & Cream Great Western (1947).
  • British Railways Crimson & Cream.

The price of the models will be £80, and expressions of interest in purchasing these can be made by clicking here

The models will be based on coaches built between 1914 and 1920, on Churchward 9-foot bogies, with steel body sides, bolection mouldings around the windows, and frosted-glass top-light windows.

They were designed to operate in sets, and to ensure all corridor windows were on the same side, there were left-hand and right-hand variants of brake thirds and composites, as well as one or two third-class coaches.

Seven liveries are proposed: six GWR and one British Railways as follows:

  • GWR Lined Crimson (1914).
  • GWR Lined Chocolate & Cream (1925).
  • GWR Chocolate and Cream Twin Cities (1930.
  • GWR Chocolate & Cream Roundel (1935).
  • GWR All Brown Twin Cities (1940).
  • GWR Chocolate & Cream Great Western (1947).
  • BR Crimson & Cream.

The price of the models will be £80, and expressions of interest in purchasing these can be made by clicking here.

Plans for these GWR Churchward top-light corridor coaches follow similar plans for N Gauge models of London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) Period III 57ft non-lavatory suburban coaches and O Gauge models of the London & South Western Railway (LSWR) four-wheel coaches.
