This weekend, buses will replace trains while Network Rail upgrades the track between Melton Mowbray and Syston East Junction.

On Sunday, 22nd February, 300 yards of track will be replaced to make journeys more reliable between Leicester and Peterborough.

120 staff, engineering trains and equipment will carry out the £582,000 investment.

Buses will be in place all day between Leicester and Peterborough, so passengers are advised to check before they travel.

“Renewing this section of track is vital to keeping services reliable for passengers travelling across the East Midlands. We appreciate the patience of passengers while this work takes place and encourage everyone to plan ahead and check their journeys before travelling.”

Dan Matthews, Network Rail operations director
