Disruption is expected to continue into Tuesday as repair work takes place on the Scottish rail network following Storm Floris.

The storm has damaged overhead lines and trees have fallen onto the tracks.

ScotRail says that winds of up to 90mph means a significant clean up job will be required before a full service can resume.

Some tracks will be inspected overnight but some will need to be completed on Tuesday morning before daylight hours.

Mark Ilderton, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said:  “We’re sorry to customers who have been impacted by the disruption caused by Storm Floris.

“Network Rail and ScotRail teams are working flat out to recover services as quickly as possible, but some disruption will continue into Tuesday.

“We’re advising customers to check their journey before they travel via the ScotRail website, mobile app, or social media feeds.”
