From the 4th to 6th September, Great Central Railway will be hosting its Autumn Diesel Gala.
Numerous diesel locomotives can be seen in action, and the gala kicked off with a themed day.
BR Green day will show off green liveried locomotives, including Class 37 D6700, and visiting Class 14 ‘Teddy Bear’ D9551, Class 35 ‘Hymek’ No. 7018, and Class 27 D5370.
Attendees will be able to enjoy a Griddle Car serving hot food, a buffet bar and classic suburban coaching stock.
Additionally, on Thursday only, for £20, there will be the opportunity to take control of a Class 10 D4067 at Rothley Carriage & Wagon.
The visiting locomotives will be joined by the home fleet, including Class 37 37714, Class 50 50017, Class 33 D6535, Class 27 27056, Class 55 55019, and the above-mentioned Class 37 D6700.
Both Friday and Saturday have jam-packed schedules, with four train sets in operation, and there will also be evening events, including BeerEx, which will be hauled by a different loco each night.
The evening events have a special evening-only ticket option at a reduced price that allows access from 5 pm.
The traction fun continues outside of the gala with a Mixed Traffic Day on the 7th September.
There will be trade events offering memorabilia and preservation insights at Loughborough Central Station for visitors to peruse.
Day tickets can be purchased online, and evening-only tickets can be purchased on the day at the Loughborough Booking Office or from a Train Ticket Inspector.
