A Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership project to celebrate Railway 200 has seen them work with Gareth and Bronwen Davies-Jones, Hallbankgate Village School and Lanercost CoE Primary School.

The project has been named ‘A Song for Edmondson’; the songs from the project were then performed by children and teachers at Lanercost Priory.

Gareth and Bronwen helped to write the lyrics which them around Brampton Railway Station and its stationmaster Thomas Edmondson, in 1836.

They also recorded one of the songs and got to visit Haltwhistle the see the racks of Edmondson tickets in the old booking hall.

The children learned many skills and also learned about the location of Brampton station and the importance of coal.

“We have been lucky to have taken part in this project. We knew that it would be special, but little did we know how special this part of our learning journey would be…singing makes us feel good.”

Headteacher of Hallbankgate Village School, Clare Hutton
