The Cholsey and Wallingford Railway are celebrating 66 years since the last time The Wallingford Bunk ran and Railway 200.
They are bringing back public train services for just £2 for a return on Thursday, 19th June and Friday, 20th June.
There will be 16 round trips using their 1960s ‘Bubblecar’ between 7:30 am and 10 pm.
This two-day special will be the most intensive service on the branch line since the 1920s.
People can use the railway for their general commute or for a day out in Wallingford, with direct Great Western Railway connections towards London and Reading.
The railway will also be running regular trains for the Wallingford Carnival on the 21st June and for days out on the 22nd.
Volunteer and educational groups in Cholsey and Wallingford can enjoy a free ride provided they book through emailing [email protected] to arrange a trip.
Timetables are available on their website.
“To mark the huge contribution that railways have made to this country and the world since the birth of the modern railway 200 years ago, we thought we should do something special. What better way than to run our railway as it was intended; as a cheap, quick and convenient method of transport for locals and visitors alike.”
Cholsey and Wallingford Railway chairman Michael Palfrey
