No Great Western Railway services will operate between Carmarthen and Swansea today, Wednesday the 29th of November 2023, until the end of the day, due to a shortage of staff at Carmarthen station.

GWR trains travelling on the route affected between Carmarthen and Bristol Parkway/London Paddington will now start and terminate at Swansea and are expected to do so until the end of the day.

Customers holding a ticket for travel to or from stations between Swansea and Carmarthen today can use their tickets on Transport for Wales services, which are accepting GWR tickets until further notice.

During this period of disruption, customers are advised to check their travel plans using National Rail Enquiries live Journey Planner, which can be found by clicking here.

Customers may be entitled to compensation should they experience a delay in their journey and are therefore advised to keep hold of their ticket, making a note of the journey taken in order to support a claim.

  1. Transport for wales are now the biggest disaster to happen to Wales it was bad with Ariva trains but this bunch haven’t got a clue. And as for the Heart of Wales line they might as well close it because they can never run a full service on it without buses and taxis

  2. It Should read. Due to our underfunding and minimal staffing policy we do not consider these stations worthy of a reliable service. Therefore you are now unable to get home or to work with us, go use a car or bus.

    1. When will the Welsh government wake up and sort this complete shambles of an organisation out.

      TFW Transport Failure Wales

The leadership team is totally inexperienced mostly rejects from Network Rail and other unknown organisations. It would be interesting to see out of the top 10 of senior managers how many of them have actually worked on a real railway in a non managerial position……

  3. Transport for Wales don’t run Great Western. Every time great Western trains have been cancelled like this when I have been travelling it has usually meant they don’t have the staff to run it at Carmarthen.

  4. TFW is a disaster waiting to explode myself and family have had two trips lately utter chaos two trips which should take roughly 2hours20mins 1st trip took over 3 hours yesterday trip took 4hours 15 min .. delays after delays excuses after excuses then last train couldn’t go further than Carmarthen as no staff who would want a job with a shit company anyway .. top knob people getting too high a pay packet .. so mr dripford stuff your tfw travel & stick your 20mph sped limit ..
